Welcome to cfopen's InstantSpot

This spot will serve as a news/info outlet for the cfopen initiative. Eventually, there will be site established but this spot will continue to serve a purpose in the distribution of information related to open source CF applications/tags/etc as well as open source CFML processing engines.

MISSION: Spread information, enable developers, encourage growth all as it relates to open source ColdFusion applications, compatible with open source CFML processors. Currently, the only open source application server is Smith Project . So, until another option becomes availble, all " cfopen approved" apps/tags/frameworks must be 100% compatible with Smith, as well as be able to run on an open source OS (Linux for example), with an open source web server (Apache for example).

The open source model of operation can be extended to open source culture in decision making which allows concurrent input of different agendas, approaches and priorities, in contrast with more centralized models of development such as those typically used in commercial companies.[2] "Open source" as applied to culture defines a culture in which collective decisions or fixations are shared during development and made generally available in the public domain- - - as seen with Wikipedia. This collective approach moderates ethical concerns over a "conflict of roles" or conflict of interest. Participants in such a culture are able to modify the collective outcomes and share them with the community.
